Call (706) 761-6025 or send a request on this site. We call you back to set a time.

What are your hours?

Is MagCool veteran-owned?

Yes. MagCool Heating and Air is veteran-owned and based in Midland.

Do you work on heating and cooling?

Yes. We repair, tune up, and install central air, heat pumps, and furnaces, and we install thermostats and repair ductwork and vents.

Cooling

Why is my AC running but not cooling?

The usual causes are a dirty filter, an outdoor unit that has stopped running, a failed capacitor, or low refrigerant from a leak. Check the thermostat, the breaker, and the filter first.

How often should my AC be serviced?

Once a year, in spring before the heat sets in. A heat pump also gets a check in fall, since it heats the house too.

How long does an AC system last in Georgia?

Many last 12 to 15 years. Long summers, skipped maintenance, and a system sized wrong for the house can shorten that.

Heating

What do I do if I smell gas?

Get everyone outside first. Do not use light switches, phones, or anything that can spark while you are inside. From outside, call the gas company or 911, then call us once they say it is safe.

Why does my heat pump steam or go quiet in winter?

That is usually the defrost cycle. On cold, damp mornings the outdoor coil frosts over, and the heat pump pauses to melt it, which can send up steam. If the ice keeps building instead of clearing, call us.

When should I have the heat checked?

In fall, before the first cold night.

Air, filters, and thermostats

How often should I change my air filter?

Most 1-inch filters every one to three months. In a Georgia summer, with the system running all day, check it monthly. Pets and dust mean sooner.

Why are some rooms hotter than others?

Usually the air is not reaching them: leaking or crushed ductwork, blocked vents, or a dirty filter.

Will a smart thermostat work with my system?

Most do, but some need a common wire, called a C-wire, for steady power.
